Wordless Wednesday - English or Irish?

William and Anna (Connor) Hill

According to oral family tradition, this couple hailed from England. Evidence thus far shows William born in Belfast, Ireland and his parents and siblings living at Farranalessary, Ballymoney, Antrim, Northern Ireland through the years of his birth.

Perhaps I am a wee bit more Irish than I thought!

Happy Wednesday!

Wordless Wednesday - Fearless Female - Catherine Grace

Something is going to have to be done with this damaged photo. It doesn't do justice to the beautiful, strong and fearless female within its margins. Stay tuned.

Happy Wednesday!

Mystery Photo - Joe L. Clift Part 1

On Wordless Wednesday I posted this old photograph:

Today I am looking for this young sweetie's family.

What I know:
I found this photo in a group of cabinet cards relating to my Hammond and Brainard families. The photographer was D.C. Hale and the photo was taken in Elkader, Iowa. On the back of the photo in very fine pen is written; Joe L. Clift, Age 3 yrs, Elkader, Clayton Co., Iowa.

What I would like to know:
Who is this Joe L. Clift?
Is he related in some way to my family?

Let’s pop over to Ancestry.com and see what we can find out.

Wordless Wednesday - Zayde Shoer - What a handsome guy!

This gentleman may not have been as pretty as his future bride, Sarah, but he certainly was handsome.

Possibly I am biased. This is a picture of M.J. at about the same age:

Do you see the resemblance?

Just remembered this is supposed to be a wordless post. Oops! Please forgive me. I'll be quiet now.
